Cars filled the parking lot and lined Sanderson Drive Monday evening as the middle school basketball championship games tipped off.
In the boys' contest, the Tisbury Tigers overcame the Edgartown Eagles to win the title 47-34. Tisbury eighth grader Cole Houston notched 27 points.
But Edgartown came out on top in the girls' contest, after a fight to the finish against the Oak Bluffs Blazers. Down 17-13 at the half, the Eagles rallied to tie the game at 19 points and used strong defense to hold off an Oak Bluffs surge led by Molly deBettencourt. Molly scored 29 points to lead the Blazers. Clare Naughton led the Eagles with 13 points.
