The kids are having a great time sledding these days, but as I write this Mr. Freeze is on his way again and there is a threat of another snowstorm this weekend. It is a great time to get all those inside projects done.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this week. Big balloons go out to Neveaha Jackson, who celebrated her day Jan. 19; to Dylan Mahoney, Jan. 20,. and to Kylie Fauteux, who celebrated her day Jan. 24.
Congratulations to Ryan Mundt and Michelle Meoli of East Haven, Conn., who were united in marriage on Jan. 19 in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Ryan is the son of Kurt Mundt and Patty Mundt of Edgartown; Michelle is the daughter of Doreen and Steve Meoli of East Haven.
The families all joined them for their festivities, of which one was a luau for the rehearsal dinner. The wedding day was perfect, the bride beautiful and the groom handsome. Ryan was pleased that his Island childhood friends could participate in his wedding. Jack McGroaty, Dan Bettencourt, Chris McAdoo and Shamus Kelley were groomsmen, and of course his brother and best friend Craig Mundt was his best man. Also joining them for the wedding was Ashley Spinney, girlfriend of Craig Mundt.
Ryan and Michelle will spend their honeymoon in Cancun, after which they will return to their new home in East Haven, Conn. Congratulations to all. Here’s to many happy years together.
Karen Altieri wrote to me with a little “mommy bragging” news about the Altieri twins. Kyle and Korrine made the dean’s list during their first semester of college. Kyle attends Westfield State University and is majoring in criminal justice and has a 3.40 GPA. Korrine attends University of Vermont, is studying nutrition and has a 3.75 GPA. Karen is a very proud to announce her twins’ success after their first semester away.
Kyle has been a volunteer EMT/Firefighter for Edgartown and Oak Bluffs for over two years. At age 18, he was one of the youngest working EMTs on the Island. He’s been working many shifts while home from his winter break to help pay for his second semester bills. Congratulations Kyle and Korrine. Keep up the good work.
It’s Curious George costume character story time on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. at the Edgartown Public Library. Moms, this will be a perfect photo-op, so come and enjoy some time with every child’s favorite monkey.
Jean Andrews, Kathy Perry’s sister, called to inform me that Kathy is now at Spaulding Rehab in Boston. She is doing okay. She has a lot of therapy to complete, but recognizes people and can move her arms and legs. Jean says she still has her sense of humor, so that is encouraging. Her address is Kathy Perry, Spaulding Rehab, 125 Nashua St, Room 818 Boston Ma. 02114. I am sure she would love to hear from her Island friends.
Jan Norton called to report that she had four snow geese in her pond. Jan feeds the ducks and geese every day and they wait for her at the proper times, but the snow geese do not know the routine and fly off when she feeds. I’m sure in time they will catch on. Jan said they are really beautiful.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
