IMP and Belushi Are On the Edge at Alex's Place

On Thursday night at Alex’s Place at the YMCA, Jim Belushi received some startling news. He was not, in fact, the mother of Island teenager Della Burke. At least that was what the audience decided. Mr. Belushi was performing with the IMPers, an Island-based, award-winning improv comedy troupe for teens and young adults. He and Miss Burke were playing a comedy game called Should Have Said. The game involved the two sitting in a car having a conversation.

Concert for Recovery

Award winning songwriter Kathy Moser performs a special concert at Alex’s Place on June 22 featuring music by and for people in recovery and their families and friends. Ms. Moser is a national touring artist who has performed and led songwriting workshops in alcohol and drug treatment facilities all over the U.S. Appearing with her will be Bethel Steel who was just chosen as a finalist for the Kerryville New Folk Competition.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Alex’s Place at the YMCA.

Teens Helping Elders

An Elder Tech Fair, the second in a series of events bringing teens and elders together, begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Alex’s Place at the YMCA. The fair gives elders an opportunity to ask the younger generation questions regarding their smartphones and computers.

Those wishing to participate should call 508-693-1676 to schedule an appointment.

The open stages take place on successive Friday nights, Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21, beginning at 8 p.m.
